I have to admit that my experience with cannabinoids is minimal.
Well, to be candid, it’s zero. And that’s a good thing because I got to have my dear friend and renowned medical professional Dr. Joseph Feuerenstein share on the Dr. Geo Podcast the truth about cannabinoids.
And here’s the deal. Cannabinoids do not come from cannabis or marijuana only. It turns out that you have a lot of cannabinoids in food which turns out provides a ton of medicinal qualities. Yes, of course, we were able to relate this topic to the prostate and urological health, and I highly encourage you to check out this entire conversation on my Youtube channel.
Let’s get into it.

EPISODES NOTES
What the Heck are Cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are a group of substances found in the cannabis plant. The cannabis plant produces anywhere from 80-100 cannabinoids. Cannabis and the benefits of the plant have been documented as far back as Egyptian times. Yet, it has only been within the last 25 years that the endocannabinoid system has been recognized and what’s so exciting is that there is still continuous research about the endocannabinoid system and its effects on the brain and body. It’s been fascinating!
I also found that the endocannabinoid system modulates a lot of other systems in the body and that its purpose is to get you back into balance also known as medicine homeostasis. If you’re feeling stressed, hurt yourself during a workout or your body needs to get back into balance, this system’s purpose is just that.
There are two receptors in the body that are the main receptors and they are predominantly in the brain.
Why Cannabinoids Are So Important
As Dr. Joe put it, cannabinoids are meant to balance us out when we’re out of whack. And you don’t have to smoke cannabis to get the benefits of cannabinoids. In fact, you can check out Dr. Joe’s cookbook and learn all the amazing recipes they have that will give you the benefits of cannabinoids.
Now when it comes to reproductive health, here’s the deal; cannabinoids have shown some impact on prostate cancer. Of course, I’ll make sure to add more in-depth analysis to this topic of prostate cancer but there are studies that show some evidence it can help with prostate cancer.
I was blown away by the amount of information Dr. Joe brought to the show and how important cannabinoids are in your heart health, liver, sleep, digestion, and sexual health. The endocannabinoid system can really be beneficial to us. And one simple food item I found from the interview is chocolate, the kind of chocolate that is 70% cacao or higher is the type of stuff that will stimulate your endocannabinoid system.
Now, this doesn’t mean you can go eat chocolate all day and you’re going to be high as a kite.
What it does mean is that you will feel the calming effects of your endocannabinoid system because of the chocolate.
My Takeaway
This episode was incredible and I learned an incredible amount from Dr. Joe. I think there is so much for us to uncover still about cannabis, THC, CBD, and the endocannabinoid system.
But that’s why we have research. That’s why science exists and medicine exists. So we can do our due diligence and see what is possible and what is good and not so good for us.
